Germ Jump
Synopsis
Germ Jump is an arcade platformer envisioned as a late competitor to Sonic the Hedgehog™ (with a way smaller budget). As the sickest germ in the world, you travel into the stomachs of humans and bounce around to get insane airtime, performing midair tricks and landing on your feet-like appendages for your popular daredevil videos. You have to bounce around enough to get your unwilling host to throw you up so you could move on to the next fleshy bouncy castle before the host’s antibodies send you packing.
Hypothetical History
With the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3™ before the console’s launch on the Sega Genesis™, and with Sonic & Knuckles™ releasing in a few months, the S.I.C.K. creators wanted a game that would appeal to a similar “cool-guy” audience for their console. Thus, they contracted a small team, Fun Socks, for a Sonic-killing platformer. However, with only a limited time between conception to release, the result was a small-scale platforming arcade game where the player is a germ jumping inside the thin, tall space of a human body. Because of the game’s simplicity and its rather gross playable character, Nor, the game faded into obscurity.
However, concept art and a prototype have been undercovered in illegal emulation groups around Chicago.
